Tyler Wixom is one of the most sought after private music instructors in the Treasure Valley. Wixom currently teaches guitar, electric bass, and ukulele to nearly 100 individual students each week. He also hosts group classes, workshops, and he teaches students all over the country through online lessons. He offers instruction for nearly every genre of music--from blues to country, heavy metal to jazz, and even Christian music.
In addition to music instruction, Wixom is a performer. He performs as a solo musician for various public and private events, and he performs with multiple bands and artists in the Boise area. He is also the Director of Music for Breath Of Life Fellowship, a church in Caldwell, Idaho, where he has served since 2009.
Wixom was inspired to play guitar at the age of 11 after visiting the Experience Music Project in Seattle, Washington. Upon returning from Seattle, his parents immediately enrolled him in private guitar lessons with Brad Nelson at American Music USA in Caldwell, Idaho.
Tyler took lessons for five years before being asked by Don Christensen, one of the founders of American Music USA, to join the team as an instructor. In 2008, he also began working part-time as a sales associate of the music store. This eventually led to his purchase of the company in 2017. American Music USA continues to be the headquarters for his entire musical career.
Wixom resides in Caldwell, Idaho with his wife of eleven years, Tasha. He has three children: Sean (18), Mila (6), and Belle (3). When he’s not working in music, Tyler enjoys fishing, horsemanship, and cooking. He is an active member of his community and he also serves as the chairman of Brave Hearts Idaho, a veterans support organization. But above all else, he considers his faith in Jesus Christ to be the most valuable aspect of his life.
